Otafuku Okonomiyaki & Takoyaki Flour is a convenient and tasty flour mix that makes it easy to prepare the classic Japanese dishes okonomiyaki (savory pancake) and takoyaki (octopus balls) at home. This flour mix is especially suitable for beginners and those who want to save time in the kitchen, as it is already seasoned with soy sauce and salt to provide an authentic flavor
Preparation:
For 1 pc Okonomiyaki: Stir 30g Okonomiyaki flour, 1 egg and 50cl water together into a batter. Mix your ingredients, f.eks. shredded cabbage and chopped bacon pieces and spring onions into your batter. Heat a frying pan to medium heat and add a little neutral oil. Pour the batter into a circular shape so it is about 1cm high. Let cook on each side for about 5min until golden and top your okonomiyaki with Japanese mayonnaise, dried bonito flakes, dried seaweed (ao nori) and okonomiyaki sauce.
For Takoyaki: Stir 600ml water and 2 eggs together with the contents of the bag into a batter (40pcs). Mix Tempura crisps 20g, spring onions 30g, beni shoga 5g. Spray your takoyaki pan/griddle with oil and heat to 200°C. Pour the batter up to half the height. Place your octopus pieces in, sprinkle with your mix of ingredients and fill the holes up with more batter. Keep turning the balls to cook the ingredients through and ensure a perfectly round takoyaki. Serve with Okonomi sauce and bonito flakes.
