Black Thai chili paste from Mae Pranom, also known as "Nam prik pao", is a spicy chili paste used for cooking and for dipping.

The chili paste has a mild, sweet and spicy taste. It is primarily made with ingredients such as shrimp, onions, garlic, dried chili and tamarind to create an incredibly aromatic and super delicious paste, where the chilies' spicy flavor is balanced with sweetness, sourness, umami and salt.

The paste can be mixed into any kind of food and soups, such as Tom Yum-soup, spread on bread or sandwiches, used for stir-frying, mixed with rice or added to spicy Thai salads. It can also be used as a dip with fresh vegetables, crackers or crispy rice cakes.
