Mooncake is a Chinese confection, especially eaten during the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival or Moon Festival. It is a finely baked cake with a shell of patterned dough and often contains some form of bean paste or lotus paste as well as a salted duck egg yolk. Traditionally, mooncakes are sent to loved ones, but in recent times it has become customary to also send them to business contacts as a token of appreciation for good relations.
