Tong Kwa is a mild, juicy vegetable with light green flesh and a firm texture. It has a neutral flavor that absorbs tastes from broth, spices and meat – which is why it is especially beloved in Chinese soups and simmered dishes.
Preparation: Peel the fruit, remove the white seeds, and cut it into slices or cubes. Tong Kwa is perfect for light soups with chicken, pork or dried shrimp, but can also be stir-fried, steamed or used in curry dishes.
It becomes soft and slightly translucent during cooking, but retains its shape. Nutritious and low in calories – an obvious choice for healthy and flavorful everyday meals.
Suitable for both classic Asian cooking and creative experiments in the Nordic kitchen. A true staple in many Asian homes.
