The dough is ideal for filling with your favorite ingredients – e.g. minced pork, shrimp, napa cabbage, carrot, ginger and garlic. When the dough is cooked properly, you get a crispy bottom and a juicy filling.
Preparation suggestions:
- Pan-fry: Add a little oil to the pan, place the gyoza in, add a little water and cover to steam – the result will be crispy on the bottom and tender inside.
- Steam: Use a bamboo steamer for a softer texture.
- Boil: Use the dough for wontons in soup – gives a delicious, elastic texture.
- Store the product in the freezer, and only thaw the amount you need.
- Remove excess flour from the wrappers, and moisten the edge with a little water before sealing your dumplings.
- Use a bamboo mat or fork to seal the edges, and experiment with different shapes and fillings.
- For extra crispness you can lightly fry the gyoza in the pan after steaming.
