Mochi Rice Cakes 400g Sato are soft and chewy rice cakes made from glutinous rice flour, providing an authentic Japanese taste experience. With their mild, slightly sweet flavor they are perfect as a snack or dessert and can be enjoyed as is or used as a base for filled mochi desserts. They are ideal for anyone who loves the unique texture and flavor of traditional Asian rice-based sweets. Traditionally, mochi is especially eaten at New Year in Japan.
Preparation:
Pan: Pan-fry the mochi until crispy and dip in soy sauce or fry with vegetables.
Pot: Put the mochi in a pot and add enough water to cover the mochi, then heat. When it boils, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 2 minutes.
Microwave: Place the mochi in a microwave-safe container, add enough water to submerge the mochi, and heat until the entire mochi swells (approx. 2½ minutes for 2 mochi at 500W). Adjust heating time depending on the type of microwave, container and amount of water.
Toaster oven: Bake for 3-4 minutes at 1000W, until the surface begins to brown. Leave the toaster oven on for about 2 minutes without opening. The mochi bakes until airy.
