Choya Umeshu Extra Shiso is a Japanese liqueur made from the ume fruit, which is related to plums and apricots. This edition belongs to Choya's premium "Extra" series that is aged for 2–3 years, and which is made exclusively from Nanko Ume from Kishu.
In addition, red shiso (perilla) leaves have been added, a Japanese herb that gives a slight bitterness but also freshness. The color is slightly reddish with enticing aromas of marzipan, mint, apricot and citrus.
Umeshu can be enjoyed neat, lightly chilled or in cocktails.
After opening, Umeshu is best kept refrigerated for 3–4 weeks.
