Tapioca pearls or sago can be used in desserts and sweetened drinks, and as a thickening agent in puddings, pies and jellies.
Tapioca pearls are virtually tasteless on their own, but absorb the flavor of what they are cooked or soaked in.
For something different, try small tapioca pearls in savory dishes such as vegetable- or cream-based soups and dumplings.
Preparation:
Place the pearls in boiling water for 3-5 minutes until they reach the desired texture.
Put water in a pot and bring to a boil. Add the pearls and continue boiling for 15-20 minutes.
