Mooncake is a Chinese confection typically eaten during the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival or Moon Festival. It is a finely baked pastry with a patterned dough shell and usually contains some form of bean paste or lotus paste as well as a salted duck egg yolk. Traditionally, mooncakes are sent to loved ones, but in recent times it has become customary to also send them to business associates as a token of appreciation for good relations.
