- 200 g minced pork
- 50 g finely chopped cabbage
- 2 spring onions, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
- 20 wonton wrappers
- Wonton soup or dipping sauce for serving
Method
- In a bowl, combine the minced pork, cabbage, spring onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, ginger and garlic. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
- Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Put a teaspoon of filling in the center of the wrapper.
- Moisten the edges of the wrapper with a little water, fold it and seal well by pinching the edges together.
- Repeat the process with the remaining wrappers and filling.
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. When the water is boiling, add the wontons and cook for 4–5 minutes, or until they float to the surface.
- Carefully remove the wontons with a slotted spoon and drain them well.
- Arrange the wontons in a bowl of soup or serve them with your preferred dipping sauce.
Tips for perfect wonton filling
To create an even more flavorful filling, you can also add chopped shrimp or mushrooms to the mixture. For vegetarian wontons, you can replace the pork with tofu and increase the amount of vegetables.
