- 4 whole cardamom pods
- 1 piece fresh ginger (about 2 cm), sliced
- 1 liter milk (dairy or plant-based milk of your choice)

- A pinch of black pepper
Method
- In a pot, bring 500 ml of water to a boil. Add the black tea, cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom pods and ginger slices.
- Let it simmer for 5–7 minutes so the spices release their aromas and flavor.
- Remove the pot from the heat and strain the spices from the tea mixture.
- Add the milk to the hot tea mixture and warm gently. Avoid boiling.
- Stir in the honey, vanilla extract and a pinch of black pepper. Mix well to ensure the sweetener is dissolved.
- Froth the milk with a milk frother or heat slowly while whisking constantly for a light, airy texture.
- Pour the chai latte into cups, optionally sprinkle some cinnamon on top for extra flavor.
Variations and tips
For a caffeine-free version, black tea can be replaced with rooibos tea. If you prefer a stronger spiced flavor, increase the amount of your favorite spices. Also try adding a touch of nutmeg for an extra dimension.
